Sometimes, We don’t have any veggies in refrigerator and we don’t want to get out of home to bring them. Then, we search for the recipe which can be cooked with the ingredients available in our kitchen. Usually, we have frozen green peas, onion, garlic and rice in our pantry. Matar Bhaat or green peas rice is the dish you can prepare with very few ingredients. It has nice aroma of spices, it tastes delicious. We can prepare it with leftover or freshly cooked rice.

INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups of cooked rice
- 3/4th cup of fresh or frozen green peas
- 1 medium sized sliced onion
- 3-4 crushed garlic cloves
- 2-3 green chillies (optional) (You can use red chilly powder instead)
- Some whole spices (1- bay leaf, 1 green cardamon, 1- star anise, 1 inch cinnamon, 3-4 black peppers)
- 2-3 curry leaves
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 3-4 tsp oil
- Salt as per taste
- Coriander leaves to garnish
DIRECTION
- Heat the oil in a pan, add whole spices and fry for a minute
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds curry leaves and onion, fry until onions become transluscent
- Add crushed garlic, chopped green chillies and green peas, fry for 2-3 min
- Add rice and some salt and give it nice stir
- Cover it for 3-4 min
- Garnish with some coriander leaves
- Serve hot with any curry, yogurt or sauce
